Our founder Marco has been familiar with sport medicine and rehabilitation since his early days, being himself a professional basketball player in Italy. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology at the University of Turin (Italy). He went on to pursuing a Master Degree in Sports Physical Therapy and Massage Therapy at the E. Fermi Institute in Perugia (Italy).
After moving to the US in 2009, Dr. Milano obtained his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles in 2016. He also became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, which added to his understanding of how training and rehabilitation coexist in the world of professional sports. In 2021 Dr. Milano reached the highest standards of clinical manual physical therapy by attaining his CMPT Certification through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy ( NAIOMT).
Dr. Milano started his professional career as a Physical Therapist at the Institute for Sports Medicine & Human Performance in Turin (Italy), where he gained experience with professional soccer players and other active individuals. He also worked as a consultant for professional organizations with a leading role in education on physical activity and injury prevention. He started his own Physical therapy practice in 2006, where he developed his skills in rehabilitation, therapeutic modalities, injury prevention and postural re-education. Shortly after moving to California, he became part of the supporting staff for the Nike Track&Field Team and travelled to various events across the US, including the 2012 Olympic trials in Eugene, OR.
Dr. Milano was the first Physical Therapy provider for the Red Bull High Performance program in Los Angeles, which was established in 2010 to help athletes achieve elite potential not only as athletes but more broadly as human beings. He led the rehabilitation department, established education and injury prevention programs and found himself leading the way to the cultural change in non-traditional sports, such as surfing and skateboarding. He has worked with more than 300 world class athletes from 50+ disciplines, who now understand and value physical therapy as part of their professional career, thanks to Dr. Milano's extensive dedication as a health-care provider and educator.
Twelve years later, Dr. Milano is still one of the Physical Therapists for the newly established Red Bull Athlete Performance Center (APC) in Los Angeles, where he continues to help athletes from numerous disciplines recover from injuries and improve their performance.
When he's not helping others, Dr. Milano enjoys spending quality time with his lovely wife and kids doing outdoor activities such as playing sports, gardening or going to the zoo.
